In Loving Memory of

STEVEN OTT

1955-2021

On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, Steven Ott, loving husband and father of two, passed away at age 65.

 

Steve was born on November 28, 1955 in Monroe, Wisconsin to Theodore and Geraldine Ott. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1973 and went on to complete his bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1978. He spent the next several years building a successful career as an accountant before going on to complete his masters degree and PhD in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992. After graduating, he spent seven years as an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky and finished his career at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he served as the Crosland Distinguished Professor of Real Estate for twelve years and the Dean of the Belk College of Business for nine.

 

On December 17, 1977, he married his high school sweetheart, Connie Dalee. They had two daughters, Ella and Ramie. 

 

Steve was known for his kind and generous spirit and passion for music, travel, Wisconsin sports, and being outdoors, especially when road biking or skiing. He was a mentor and friend to many who will remember him for his sense of humor, his infectious laugh, and his wise and thoughtful advice.

 

He was preceded in death by his father Theodore and mother Geraldine. He is survived by his wife Connie, his daughters Ella and Ramie, and his siblings Sherry Anderegg, Theodore Ott, Linda Ott, Wendy Bolding and Shan Wiley along with many other members of his extended family.
